Info for StudentsWhy Have A Mentor? There are many reasons to find a mentor that can range from getting course advice to working out a personal crisis. No matter what the issue is, whether good or bad, ATMentors are always there to listen. To view a longer, more comprehensive, list of possible topics that students talk to mentors about click here. ATMentors is a mentorship program designed to operate on "your own terms." You and your chosen mentor can determine how often you meet, whether you have set meetings, or if you just drop in from time to time. You get out of the relationship what you put into it. The following is quote from a student describing how her mentor impacted her life. "(My ATMentor) is the epitome of an ATMentor. I am graduating in May and (her) expertise and interest is in this area, she has been a wonderful sounding board in career issues as much as an invaluable resource in brainstorming ideas for (my organization) and pointing me in the right direction when I need to get something done on campus. Several times I have popped my head in as she was about to go into a meeting and she took a minute to chat quickly, and other times she spent almost an hour with me talking about anything that came to mind, the time just flying by. Her advice always gives me something to think about further and she always has her door open willing to talk when I need it. Her encouragement is never in short supply and her smile everyday brings one to everyone she meets. To me, and numerous other students I know, (she) has embodied all that an ATMentor is, going above and beyond the call of duty for others in any situation."
