Info for Mentors

Congratulations and thank you for becoming an ATMentor! Through your willingness to be a part of this organization you have expressed that you are available with an open door and an open mind for students who are in need. For some of you this will be a symbolic service and you will see very few students who approach you only because you are an ATMentor, but for many seeing the ATMentors placard will be a comfort and an invitation to utilize your knowledge, skills and expertise.

You may be wondering, "What’s next?" I’ve filled out my application, and posted my placard. Now what do I do? There are a number of options below that you are welcomed and encouraged to explore.

Spread the Word About ATMentors
One of the most important things you can do as an ATMentor is spread the word to staff and faculty who may serve as potential ATMentors, but especially to students so that they know that ATMentors exists.

Volunteer at ATMentors Resource Tables
Throughout the academic year and all during the summer at New Student Conferences, ATMentors has resource tables dedicated to helping students learn more about our services and how to find a Mentor. This is a great chance to interact with students and introduce them to ATMentor's services.

Learn More About the Mentoring Process
Being an ATMentor can be an amazing experience, but much of what you will get out of it will depend on the students that you interact with and the quality of those interactions. Click here for some steps that might be helpful in developing your mentoring relationship.
